"I think if I weren’t vaccinated, I would have died, because it was bad. I still have side effects."
Billie Eilish has revealed that she came down with a bad case of Covid-19 this year, but said that she "would have died" if she hadn't already been vaccinated.
The pop superstar shared the news on Howard Stern's Sirius XM show on December 13th, after the veteran radio host asked her if she had come down with the virus after she kept coughing during the interview.
Replying that she'd recently tested negative, she added that "I also had COVID already. Nobody knows that. But fuck that shit, dude."
Despite being fully vaccinated, Eilish contracted Covid-19 in August of this year. But after Stern pointed that out, she made it clear that things could have been much worse for her without the vaccine.
"I want it to be clear that it is because of the vaccine that I’m fine," she said. "I think if I weren’t vaccinated, I would have died, because it was bad."

"When I say it was bad, I more just mean that it felt horrible. But really, in the scheme of COVID, it was not bad. You know what I mean? When you’re sick, you feel fucking horrible," she added. "I didn’t die, and I wasn’t gonna die, but that does not take away from how miserable it was. It was terrible. I still have side effects. I was sick for two months almost."
She also praised the vaccine for keeping her brother Finneas, who was also a guest on Stern's show, and her parents safe. "The vaccine is fucking amazing and it also saved Finneas from getting it, it saved my parents from getting it, it saved my friends from getting it."
As to the cause of her cough during yesterday's interview, Eilish blamed her recent appearance as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on December 11th, where the show’s longtime producer, Lorne Michaels, apparently "was sick, coughing everywhere. Mr. Lorne was coughing and coughing and coughing." She did add however that "Saturday was … one of the best days of my life. It was so much fun and so amazing and surreal and ridiculous."
