UK singer-songwriter Billie Marten has announced two Irish shows for this spring ahead of her upcoming new album Drop Cherries, which will be released on April 7th 2023. Marten will take the stage at Deer’s Head in Belfast on Saturday, May 13 followed by a performance at Dublin’s Button Factory on Sunday, May 14.
Drop Cherries will be Marten’s fourth studio album after her acclaimed Flora Fauna album was released in 2021. Earlier this month, Marten released Drop Cherries’ first promotional single and music video for ‘This Is How We Move’, which showcases Marten’s signature acoustic-folk sound and soothingly soulful voice.
Marten, 23, has already seen a fair share of success throughout her young musical career. She was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2016 and has been highly acclaimed by many, including Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Huw Stephens. Starting out posting song covers on YouTube, Marten was signed to Chess Club Records, a division of Sony Music, in 2015 and released her debut album Writing of Blues and Yellows a year later. Her new label home is with Fiction Records.
Marten, who was born Isabella Sophie Tweddle, grew up in the cathedral city Ripon, North Yorkshire, around the scenic limestone hills and valleys of the Dales.
