The Liberties college are looking forward to the "smooth implementation of the now agreed measures.”
BIMM Dublin say they've settled the employment dispute, which resulted in their lecturers taking strike action and students petitioning and picketing on their behalf.
“After positive and constructive discussions with lecturers, we are pleased to announce that our revised proposal has been accepted by our lecturers," reads an official statement sent to Hot Press this morning. "This process aimed to enhance the student experience at BIMM Music Institute Dublin following feedback we received from our students. With this revised proposal, we are confident that we will achieve that, while also providing greater financial and job security for lecturers. We’re incredibly grateful for the patience and collaboration of our lecturers and students and look forward to continuing discussions to ensure a smooth implementation of the now agreed measures.”
The withdrawal of labour, which was triggered by fears that up to 35 permanent positions at the Liberties music and performance college could be shed, made national headlines last month and was discussed by TDs in the Dáil. There were also messages of support for lecturers from BIMM alumni Fontaines D.C. and The Murder Capital.
In a previous statement issued to Hot Press on February 19, BIMM stated that there will be no involuntary redundancies and that 20 lecturers will be offered "permanent, salaried roles, providing financial stability and job security.

As well as scrapping the redundancies, BIMM said "all lecturers will be offered the opportunity to remain on their current contracts with the same terms they currently enjoy", and that "Nobody is being forced to reapply for their jobs or to move onto different contracts."
Five days later and it seems that those reassurances have been accepted by lecturers.
