Fairyhouse Racecourse in Co. Meath will play host to 20 acts for a new one-day festival next year – celebrating black artists and entrepreneurs.
For The Culture – a brand new festival aimed at celebrating community, culture, heritage and the Black and Irish experience – has been announced by Black & Irish. Set to take place on May 28 2022 at Fairyhouse Racecourse in Co. Meath, the festival will be focused on "platforming Black and mixed race artists, entrepreneurs and Black-owned businesses around the country who may have previously not received the recognition they deserve."
"Although the festival is focused on representation in the Black and mixed race community, it is open for all to attend and share the Black and Irish experience," they add.
On the day, you can look forward to 20 acts performing across three different areas, with a wide variety of genres and styles on offer. There will also be a focus on Irish Black-owned businesses at the festival – as well as fashion, comedy, live podcasts, Afro-Caribbean foods and more.
Founded in June 2020, Black & Irish set out to highlight and celebrate the identity of Black and mixed race Irish people. Established after the death of George Floyd, their mission is to spread awareness about the experiences, struggles and successes of the community – and engage with wider Irish society through authentic discussion. Over the last year, they have made an impact across the areas of Education, Business, Politics, Media, Community and Entertainment.
