'Let's Rock' is the Black Keys' first album in five years, and marks a return to their signature blues rock sound.
The Black Keys have returned, announcing their first new record in five years. The straightforwardly named Let’s Rock follows up 2014’s Turn Blue, a record which, ironically, saw the band heading down a more experimental and electronic pop path, straying slightly from their blues rock roots. Those who missed their older sound will be pleased to find out, then, that the new record is a back to basics affair, focusing on their original rock oriented sound.
Lead singer Dan Auerbach said of the record that the chemistry between him and drummer Pat Carney was more essential than ever to the creative process, stating that “when we’re together we’re The Black Keys, that’s where that real magic is.” Carney referred to the project as “an homage to electric guitar,” The announcement comes with the release of new single ‘Eagle Birds’ which follows up lead single ‘Lo/Hi.’
In the time since their last album each band member has pursued separate artistic projects, with Auerbach releasing his solo album Waiting On A Song and Carney helping to produce for many acclaimed musicians including Chris Thompson of Vampire Weekend with his solo project Dams of the West.
