Blade Runner Live will be performed with a 14-piece ensemble.
Bord Gais Energy Theatre are giving Irish audiences the chance to experience Ridley Scott’s multi-Academy Award-nominated cult classic on a vast HD screen accompanied by The Avex Ensemble performing Greek composer Vangelis’ original synthesiser-led score in sync with the film.
Following on from the UK premiere in London at the Royal Albert Hall this October, the 1982 film will come to Bord Gais Energy Theatre on March 29 2020, with a full 14-piece musical ensemble featuring synthesizers, strings, brass, bass, and percussion, bringing the film’s stunning soundtrack to life.
Blade Runner tells the story of detective Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who must continue as Replicant Hunter following the escape of 4 Replicants from colonies who’ve returned to earth. His mission is complicated when he falls for Rachel (Sean Young) - a Replicant based at the Tyrell Corporation.

Vangelis’ iconic soundtrack was nominated for Best Original Score in 1983 at both the BAFTAs and Golden Globes, and has become influential both in the world of film scores, as well as wider electronic music in general.
