So… Blair Witch 2 has hit the big screen and Mr Manson has assumed charge of all things original sound track. Quite fitting really. The musical emulation of hype, eyeliner and distortion pedals meets the cinematic emulation of forests, shaky cameras crews and things that go bump in the night.

However, no matter what your opinion of the Pale One may be, there's no denying that this is a bloody good album.
Godhead open up with ‘The Reckoning’, a digital/industrial/nu metal-type tune, laden with anthemic distorted choruses, Tony Iommi and Dave Grohl joined forces for an unnaturally ambient and rifftastic ‘Goodbye Lament’, and my own personal favourites, System of a Down, screech their pretty little heads off with ‘Mind’.
Marilyn Manson offers his contribution – a cover of the M.A.S.H. theme tune, ‘Suicide is Painless’ (this track is possibly the most disturbing of all – I think I can actually hear him sing). Strangely enough, Elastica make an appearance with a rather whiney track called ‘Human’ and ‘Queens Of The Stone Age’ close up with their fantastic ‘Feel Good Hit of the Summer’ (y'know the one – ‘cccccccccccocaine’).

In effect, this is a surprisingly good album, considering the mind from which t'was born, and is quite possibly the best soundtrack you're likely to hear for a while. Impressive.
