Tara Blaise has landed a key role in the stage musical of The War Of The Worlds. The Irish songstress, who released her widely-praised debut album Dancing On Tables Barefoot last year will play the part originally performed on the hugely successful album by Julie Covington.
War Of The Worlds, which was written by Jeff Wayne of the Moody Blues, was originally released in 1978 and has gone on to sell over 13 million albums in the interim. Philip Lynott provided the Irish interest on the original album, while the lead male voice was provided by Moody Blues singer Justin Hayward. The narration was provided by Richard Burton – whose voice is again used in the stage version. Justin Hayward also survives from the original cast.
The album was remixed, remastered and re-released in 2005, and became a Top 10 hit in the UK, second time around, selling almost 400,000 copies to date in its new guise.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the show will play The Point Theatre in Dublin on April 30. The Irish date is being promoted by Aiken Promotions. The full tour will encompass 15 dates, around the UK and Ireland. Originally lined up for the Albert Hall in London, tickets sold out so quickly that a Wembley date had to be added.
Tara Blaise's campaign for world domination enters a new phase in March, with the first European release of her debut record. Hopes are currently
running high at Warner's, who release Dancing On Tables Barefoot in Spain, as the first single from the record, 'The Three Degrees', has already been playlisted on the two top national pop stations.
