D-REAM: “Blame It On Me” (Magnet)
D-REAM: “Blame It On Me” (Magnet)
D-REAM are one of the new breed of Pop bands, and they serve as a sobering reminder that Pop in the Nineties is in a very sad state indeed. I’m not about to get nostalgic about Duran Duran or the Human League, but this is the kind of tripe that makes me say things along the lines of “When I was a lad, pop music was tuneful.” Peter Cunnah’s grating voice is reason enough to avoid this record; without exception, all four songs are exceptionally bad, lacking character, melody or any semblance of lyrical originality. Dream on.
