The Irish TV star is a fan of the original Big Brother presenter...
Bláthnaid Treacy, the star of Ireland’s Two Tube programme has been singing the praises of Davina McCall.
Asked to name her favourite TV presenter, in the well known Q&A slot in Hot Press magazine, The Mad Hatter’s Box, Bláthnaid is effusive in her praise of the presenter who originally made her name on Big Brother.
“She’s hilarious,” she said, “really personable and she can cover heavy topics too. An amazing presenter. Long Lost Family is one of my favourite shows.” The award-winning television show, which aims to reunite close relatives after years of separation, is co-presented by Davina with Nicky Campbell, and has had five series to date on ITV. “I cry every time,” Bláthnaid reveals.
The Mad Hatter’s Box provides unique insights into its subjects over 32 carefully crafted questions, which cover a wide spectrum of information and opinion. There are opportunities to be smart and funny – which Bláthnaid takes in fine style – but also to make insightful comments about current trends.
The Two Tube star, who also presents the National Chart Show on RTÉ2fm, finds it hard to choose her favourite record, instead naming six! Among them is Bon Iver’s For Emma Forever Ago, confirming her indie credentials. But there are some surprises too among her choices.

Meanwhile, the presenter will doubtless disappoint male fans by revealing that she has a boyfriend – a jazz musician, as it happens. And as for which animal she’d like to be, she confesses: “A bird. I’ve always wanted to fly.”
All told, it is a hugely interesting and engaging Mad Hatter. Which is exactly what you might expect from Bláthnaid Treacy. It is all in the new issue of Hot Press.
