'Trapped' is the second single from their upcoming album Stir.
Limerick's Bleeding Heart Pigeons have released the second single from their upcoming LP Stir, due for release on May 22. It's called 'Trapped' and is accompanied by an immersive virtual-reality music video.
'Trapped' is intricately layered, immersive synth pop. Psychedelic-tinged guitars feel reminiscent of Grizzly Bear's haunting indie rock. The band dance between notions of claustrophobia and yearned-for release throughout the track, before exploding into a cathartic crescendo. Singer Mícheál Keating assumes the role of an unhinged preacher, backed by swooning strings from fellow Limerick musician Post Punk Podge.
The video, in its 360 degree glory, is almost disorienting yet feels fitting with the neo-psychedelia sounds. It transports you to a world that doesn't quite exist, flashing colours dominating the screen.
Four years after their critically acclaimed debut Is, Limerick three-piece Bleeding Heart Pigeons are back with a new album. Stir marks a new, independent chapter for the band. The album was written and recorded in a small converted farm-shed in rural West Limerick, and was produced by the band’s Mícheál Keating. The LP sees the trio integrate their lush sonic sensibilities and existential lyrics with increasingly refined pop song-structures.
