The acclaimed pop-punk band have been teasing their fans for weeks about the upcoming release of their new album Nine which will be out on September 20 via Columbia Records.
Blink-182 fans can rejoice in the digital release of their brand-new single 'Darkside,' the latest preview of the band's long-awaited album which is now impending. And the trio really stretched their imagination for that one! On Wednesday, they published a hotline number on their social media acounts which played a 15-seconds clip of the new track when called. The ultimate tease - although they deserve a special mention for their originality in doing so.
The band had already unveiled 'Happy Days', 'Blame it on my Youth' and 'Generational Divide'. All in all, four songs have been shared fom the 15-track upcoming album, with 'Darkside' accompanied by an official lyric video.
In a rather typical Blink fashion, 'Darkside' is a very catchy sentimental song combined with punk rock riffs and a diluted pop vibe. The lyrics are about liking a girl and pursuing her despite knowing that an emotional fallout is most likely looming. "She’s a girl dressed in black from another world"/"Listen, breathe‚ it’s like a girl from another world"/"I don't care what you say"/"I don't care what you do"/"I'm going to the darkside with you."
Nine is now available for pre-orders on Blink 182 website. It will be available on different supports: a limited edition of colour vinyl pressing, CD and will even be recorded on old-school cassettes. It is the follow-up for Blink 2016's California - and a special one at that, since it is the first album to feature the band's new singer Matt Skiba who joined in 2015, replacing singer/guitarist and founder Tom DeLonges.
