Blossoms are headed back to Ireland next year in support of their upcoming album, Foolish Loving Spaces.
Today, Stockport five-piece Blossoms announce plans for their return to Ireland with a headline tour in February and March 2020. With stops in Cork, Limerick, Belfast, and Dublin, the tour will be in promotion of their upcoming third album, Foolish Loving Spaces, set for release on 31 January 2020. The album follows 2018's top 5 album, Cool Like You and will feature their latest single, 'Your Girlfriend', released this summer.
Foolish Loving Spaces was produced by the band’s usual team of James Skelly and Rich Turvey at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. Described as a romantic page-turner, the album ranges from TV game show-theme synths to rolling keys from Myles Kellock, but retains the classic direct lyrical range from vocalist Tom Ogden. The record’s multi-instrumental colour and widescreen sound is provided by pedal steel and lead guitarist Josh Dewhurst, while Joe Donovan on drums and Charlie Salt on bass bring danceable grooves throughout, complemented on occasion by a wall of gospel harmony.
"The album is a pure celebration of love in all of its splendid and baffling guises, toying with the so-called sins of lust and forbidden infatuation," explains the band. "It’s inspired by a summer spent listening to Stop Making Sense, The Joshua Tree, and Screamadelica."
Since forming in 2013, Blossoms have enjoyed widespread success and acclaim. Their 2016 debut full length topped the album charts for two consecutive weeks and went on to earn the band BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations. 2018’s Cool Like You spawned the anthemic singles 'I Can’t Stand It', 'There’s A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)' and 'How Long Will This Last?' The band also launched their ‘Blossoms Pubcast’ in March, which has topped the iTunes podcast charts.
Tickets for Blossoms' Irish tour go on sale here this Friday, 18 October at 9AM.
