Tomorrow (Wednesday, December 21) the Band Aid archive will be donated to the National Library of Ireland (NLI) by the Band Aid Trust.
When the Band Aid Trust closed its offices in 1991, it put all its paperwork and files into a 100-square foot storage unit in London. This collection will now be transferred to the NLI, where it will be catalogued, preserved, selectively digitised and exhibited. The archive includes hand-written letters, publicity materials, Trust correspondence and more.
The announcement will be made by Chairman of the Band Aid Trust, Bob Geldof; Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan TD; and Director of the NLI, Dr Sandra Collins.
