Speaking on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! (RED) Benefit show, Bono confirmed he will write a song with Gaga to help raise money for the fight against AIDS.
In order to be considered, fans have to donate to the cause as well as encourage their friends to donate on (RED)’s Crowdrise page. The winning donor will receive a personalised song and an autographed copy of the lyrics from Bono and Gaga.
Speaking about Gaga and the competition, Bono said: “I first met her Gaga-ness at a (RED) event in her early twenties, she was a (RED) warrior. We have this thing where she can improvise and makeup tunes. And she made up a song at this event about some red-haired man that she fell in love with. She said he was an Irish boy - I think she made that up.”
“She’s the best of what we got. She’s a sacred talent. And she and I are going to write a song with the name of the winner of this sweepstakes.”
In July, the United Nations warned complacency is starting to stall the fight against AIDS. Bono believes that women are key in the fight to end the global epidemic:

“There is a lack of momentum, politics are at play. There is a bit of complacency. But I’ll tell you who is not complacent, women are not complacent. That is probably because HIV is the biggest killer of women in the world. Women are very annoyed about that. For Sub-Saharan women in Africa, I think it’s twice the infection rate in comparison to young boys.”
On Kimmel’s fourth annual (RED) Benefit show, Bono also performed a soulful version of the Bee Gees song ‘Stayin’ Alive’ with Pharrell Williams. Towards the end of the song, Williams changed the lyrics “Stayin’ alive” to “(RED) is saving a life.”
