They're the first act to take to the Main Stage, which will host Kendrick Lamar, Ash, Chvrches and Walking On Cars tonight

Northern Irish band Brand New Friend opened EP 2018's Main Stage today.

The quartet played a half hour set to open the stage ahead of Ash's performance, which kicks off at 6pm this evening.

The band have previously opened for Ash at other gigs and made sure to prepare the crowd for the Irish rock legends' hour-long set through heavy guitars and strong percussion.

In other words, it was a show that allowed the crowd to mosh and air-guitar to.

Vocalist and guitarist Taylor Johnson roared at the crowd to ask if they were ready for Ash and Chvrches, who are also taking to the Main Stage later.

He revealed Brand New Friend met "nice and Scottish" Chvrches earlier today ahead of their appearance in the Hot Press Chat Room.
