Some of the complaints were also directed towards Charli XCX's attire.
Last Saturday's BRIT Awards are facing scrutiny over Sabrina Carpenter's opening performance and five-time winner Charli XCX's outfit. The ceremony received over 825 complaints to Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator.
Carpenter opened the ceremony with a medley of her hits 'Espresso' and 'Bed Chem', appearing on stage in a red glittery bra dancing on a heart-shaped bed.
The show was broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX starting at 8.15 p.m., just before the conventional 9 p.m. watershed.
In response to the backlash, Carpenter addressed the controversy with a playful social media post.
She wrote: "Brits 🇬🇧💋 i now know what watershed is!!!!"

Carpenter received the Global Success Award at the ceremony, making her the first international artist to receive this prize, joining past British winners such as Adele and Ed Sheeran. She was also nominated in the International Artist and International Song of the Year categories.
Charli XCX also received backlash for wearing a see-through dress. The singer addressed the concerns during her acceptance speech for Artist of the Year, saying:
"I heard that ITV were complaining about my nipples. I feel like we're in the era of 'free the nipple' though, right?"
The British singer-songwriter swept at the ceremony, winning in the Artist, Album, Songwriter, Song of the Year and Dance Act categories.
