Britney Spears has broken the silence following her split from Sam Asghari, who filed for divorce last week.

On Friday, the pop superstar opened up about the separation on Instagram.

“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!” said Spears.

“I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!” she added.  “I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!! I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses !!!”

On Wednesday 16 August Asghari filed for divorce in the L.A Superior Court. According to Billboard, the couple separated on 28 July, with Asghari, who seeks spousal support from Spears, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the main contributor to the split.

The couple met on the set of Spears’ ‘Slumber Party’ music video. They went on to date for five years and tied the knot at a celebrity-attended wedding in June 2022.

“After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together”, said Asghari on Instagram, a day after filing for the separation.
