Britney Spears said she will be “buying a horse”, as rumours that she and her husband Sam Asghari have split up continue to swirl.

She posted a photo of herself horse riding on Wednesday, in the wake of various American news outlets reporting that the marriage of one year had ended.

“Buying a horse soon! So many options it’s kinda hard!” the Instagram post read. “I can’t make up my mind. Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on?”

Spears and Asghari were married at the signer’s L.A home last June. The ceremony was attended by various high-profile stars, including Selena Gomez, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore and Madonna.

The pair’s split was initially reported by TMZ on Wednesday. According to the same publication, Asghari is already preparing to file for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for ending the marriage.

The marriage is Spears’ third. She divorced Kevin Federline in 2007. She also married Jason Alexander in 2004, but it was annulled after only a couple of days.

Alexander was arrested and charged last year after arriving at Spears’ home in an attempt to ‘crash’ her wedding to Asghari.
