The soundtrack features live versions of the songs from his latest album and a Glen Campbell cover.
After celebrating his 70th birthday earlier this week, Bruce Springsteen has announced Western Stars - Songs From The Film, the soundtrack album to his upcoming directorial debut, set for release on October 25 via Columbia Records.
The upcoming film, Western Stars, will see Springsteen perform the entire album of the same name, backed by a band and full orchestra at Stone Hill Farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Behind-the-scenes footage and interviews will also feature in what's been described as "a cinematic retelling of Springsteen's first studio album in five years". As well as serving as executive producer, The Boss directed the film, alongside longtime collaborator Thom Zimny, director of Springsteen On Broadway.
Western Stars - Songs From The Film is set to feature live versions of the album's 13 tracks, along with a cover of the Glen Campbell classic 'Rhinestone Cowboy'.
Western Stars, released back in June, was a global success, topping charts in every continent. Hot Press's Pat Carty described the album as a "heartbreaking yet life-affirmingly beautiful record".
