Although it’s true that ‘Came Back Haunted’ marks a return to NIN’s techno-industrial roots, Trent Reznor’s comeback number is built around a very different sort of drama than we’re used to. Perched on top of the Nine Inch Nails back catalogue, this pulsating pseudobanger feels almost chirpy, its ping-ponging electronic beats and funk-tinged refrain forming a sharp contrast with many of the band’s moody signature songs.
