Leading Irish folk singer Cara Dillon has announced the release of her first album in six years, Coming Home, and has shared a new single alongside the announcement.
The single, called 'Clear The Path', showcases Dillon's celebrated songwriting abilities, exploring themes of ancestry and heritage as she reflects on the legacy of those who came before us and how it affects us moving forward.
Coming Home is due to release in early 2024 and acts as a break from her previous work: the ten-track record is her first collection of wholly original work, and she blends spoken word and song as she shares intensely personal stories of how growing up in Co. Derry shaped her.
“What is it that makes us who we are," asks Dillon, "Which talents, traits, and resemblances have we inherited? What has trickled down through the generations? Our ancestral paths should be kept clear and not allowed to become overgrown. There's wonder and joy if you follow that path.”
A pioneer of modern Irish traditional music, Dillon is one of Ireland's most celebrated singers working today, having released her debut record Cara Dillon in 2001 and her work gathering immense critical acclaim. She's had a remarkable career since, releasing seven studio albums, collaborating with Symphony Orchestras across Europe and even providing the lead track and narration for a Disney film.

In support of the new record, Dillon will embark on an extensive UK tour this autumn in which she will present the new material for the first time live, including at a show on October 18th in Belfast’s Grand Opera House, as part of this year's Belfast International Arts Festival.
Upon its release, the record will also be accompanied by a book of the same name that provides rich context, including original poetry and lyrics by Dillon as well as personal stories and anecdotes.
