Cork-based band Cardinals have shared a new single from their upcoming self titled EP.
The five-piece indie rock band from County Cork, Cardinals have released their brand new single, 'Nineteen', off of their debut EP, Cardinals, which is set to be released on June 7 of this year.
'Nineteen' comes as the fifth song in the band's compact but impactful discography and precedes itself with a juxtaposition of electric chords throughout and hints at an undertone of folksy shoegaze in what is arguably becoming the band's signature sound.
Coming in at just under two minutes, 'Nineteen' is on the shorter side in comparison to some of the bands other tracks, but this is a decision that frontman Euan Manning says is deliberate.
"Nineteen came from a desire to write a song that was shorter than two minutes. I had been listening to lots of Buddy Holly and he's got some great short songs."
Continuing Manning explains, "It was written very quickly in a practice session but was about four minutes originally so we whittled it down to the 1 minutes and 53 seconds you hear now."
