"Anyone can be bunny, at least for three minutes and seventeen seconds."
Caroline Polachek's new track is ice cool. 'Bunny Is A Rider' is the first original music the former Chairlift singer has released, since her triumphant 2019 album Pang.
The song is produced by Polachek's frequent collaborator Danny L Harle, who also plays bass on the track. "It also features his baby daughter’s first vocal cameo," Polachek added in a press release.
"Bunny Is A Rider’ is a summer jam about being unavailable,” she says. “Bunny is slippery, impossible to get ahold of. Maybe it’s a fantasy, maybe it’s a bad attitude. But anyone can be bunny, at least for three minutes and seventeen seconds.”
The song has all the metronomic precision of Polachek's first solo album but with a new flair. The introductory whistle vocals lace throughout the track, like sparkling ice in a glass, overlaying Polachek's effortless singing style.
While Polachek has not released original music since October 2019, she works closely with the P.C. Music collective. In December 2020 she reimagined The Corrs Y2K track 'Breathless' and since has released a writhing remix of A.G. Cook's 'Oh Yeah', complete with bagpipes.
