Cathy Davey is taking it all back to the essentials and for 2018 will be embarking on her Bare Bones Tour, along with a live album, which is to be in store on April 21.
The tour will features Cathy and two of her closest musical allies, Derren Dempsey on guitar and Stephen Kiernan on drums. The show and album will feature hit favourites like 'Little Red' and 'Sing For Your Supper', as well as a few brand new tracks.
This is a tour that Cathy has been longing to do for a long time, as she explains, “This stripped down set is where I'm at, at the moment. My new songs are very exposed and raw, unashamedly anti-lush. The nakedness of the Bare Bones setup suits me much better now that I'm older and feels less vulnerable”
Cathy will launch her 2018 Bare Bones Tour with a special show in Dublin’s Unitarian Church on Stephen’s Green on Friday March 23. This show will be recorded and released on vinyl in time for Record Store Day - April 21.

The new release comes at a time when vinyl has experienced a resurgence in Ireland. This is about to go into a new orbit with the arrival of Dublin Vinyl - a world class facility which has been pressing records since December. Turning this album around on vinyl in such a short time wouldn’t be possible without them and they’re delighted to be involved. As Hugh Scully explains, “We're always looking for interesting projects to work on in Dublin Vinyl, and Cathy has created an idea that we're delighted to be able to bring to life.” Cathy is thrilled that she’ll be able to record, master and press her album in Dublin.
