Since its mid-summer release, Irish trio Chasing Abbey’s hit single ‘Oh My Johnny’ has dominated charts and become an instant dance classic from pubs to clubs around the world. The trad house tune receives a remodel with a new remix by multi-platinum Australian DJ and producer Lenny Pearce, released today via Spinnin’ Records.
Released in July of 2023, Chasing Abbey’s Ro, Bee, and Teddy C have made waves with their instantly viral single ‘Oh My Johnny (Banks Of The Roses),’ dubbing a new sound the Irish trio call ‘trad house.’ The remix of the track, which dominated Irish and international charts all summer long, is released today from Australian Spinnin’ signing Lenny Pearce.
Formerly of the performing group Justice Crew, the multi-platinum and ARIA-nominated Peace veered off to explore his own unique sound, characterised by groovy basslines, merging hip-hop and house music. He has made a name for himself around the globe, touring with such notable legends as Janet Jackson, One Direction, Pitbull, and Kesha.
The ‘Oh My Johnny (Banks Of The Roses)’ [Lenny Pearce Remix] is out today and sees the Australian DJ bring his earlier trademark hypertechno sound to the track, while elevating the heart-pumping syncopated rhythms, warm synths and languid bass chords.
Chasing Abbey’s catchy pop vocals and trad-style plucked fiddle remain in the forefront of the song, made even livelier with a speedy tempo. The remix has already gained fast traction through teasing clips on TikTok, ensuring more chart-topping success for the Irish trio’s fast classic tune.

Immediately following its anticipated July release, ‘Oh My Johnny (Banks Of The Roses)’ entered the Top 10 Irish Charts, now certified platinum. Chasing Abbey performed the banger on the first Late Late Show of the new season, increasing streams within the following week by 38%.
The single stayed at No. 1 in the Irish Homegrown chart for a total of 7 consecutive weeks, garnering over 2.1 million streams in Ireland alone and soaring to No. 1 on YouTube Trending, Spotify Trending and iTunes.
Bringing the Irish trio success on a worldwide scale, ‘Oh My Johnny’ boasts over 3.5 million streams globally. The trad house hit has been picking up chart positions in South Africa, Australia, the US, and the UK, among others, earning a No. 12 spot on the iTunes Dance Chart. It’s reached close to 3 millions streams on Spotify alone, while the official music video is also clocking in close to a million views.
Borrowing the melody and lyrics of 18th century traditional folk song ‘Banks Of The Roses,’ Chasing Abbey’s single, assuredly a now-classic dance tune, returns to its Irish roots while also calling upon the dawn of a new era. With warm vocals and an intoxicating house beat, the contemporary track is simultaneously fresh and familiar.

Longtime childhood friends Ro, Bee, and Teddy C make up Chasing Abbey, all multi-instrumentalists and producers working out of their studio, Penthouse Productions, in Tullamore. Speaking of the inspiration behind the song, they share, “We grew up as trad musicians, playing with our families in various trad bands over the years. To now be able to bring that musicianship to a Chasing Abbey style of production and rework these timeless Irish songs without any sampling is a dream.”
Chasing Abbey’s buzzed-about Irish tour commenced earlier this month, with a hit opening night in Belfast’s Filthy McNastys. Remaining tickets for the tour are on sale now, with their November 25 Dublin show at The Academy quickly sold out. Known for their electrifying live performances, the group’s infectious stage charisma and unwavering sense of fun makes them an unmissable live act.
Exploding onto the Irish music scene in 2016, Chasing Abbey’s debut single ‘That Good Thing’ garnered millions of streams and scored the band a household name status in Ireland. The debut track topped the iTunes download chart in Ireland upon its release, was the most Shazamed song in the country, went on to win RTÉ’s Choice Music Prize for Song of the Year, and secured the band a global record deal with 3 Beat UK and Universal Music Group.
