We have a bit of a surprise today in the form of our first look at Kodi Smit-McPhee as popular teleporting mutant Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse!

A fan favorite in the superhero team, Nightcrawler last appeared on the big screen in 2003 in X2: X-Men United, played by Alan Cumming. Smit-McPhee's Nightcrawler is one of several young iterations of well-known X-Men characters in Apocalypse, with Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp and Ben Hardy joining as Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm and Angel, respectively.

Other newcomers include Oscar Isaac as the titular villain, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee alongside series veterans James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne and Nicholas Hoult.

The highly anticipated film, helmed by Bryan Singer, started production today and hits theaters in May 2016 so we can expect to see a lot more between now and then!
