Pro-choice group Choice Ireland are organising a rally in support of 'Miss D', a girl who has been prevented from travelling abroad for an abortion- even though the baby is expected to die hours after being born.
The frankly disgraceful decision by the Health Service Executive is currently being contested in the courts.
In support for the 17-year-old girl from Leinster, identified only as 'Miss D', Choice Ireland is holding a rally outside the GPO on O'Connell St in Dublin at midday on Saturday 5 May.
"No woman should have to endure the trauma of carrying to full term a child who will not live more than a few hours," they argue. "Without legislation to deal with this issue yet more Irish women in difficult situations will have to be dragged through the courts."
The rally will be addressed by speakers from Doctors for Choice, Choice Ireland and Alliance for Choice.
