University College Dublin’s acclaimed Choral Scholars release their a new album today, as well as a music video for track ‘Dúlaman’.
Led by Artistic Director Desmond Earley, the choir group, composed of talented young student-singers - including Hot Press' own Abby Molloy(!) - has made numerous television and radio appearances, collaborated with famed composers Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone, and toured throughout Europe and America, performing with leading orchestras including RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the European Union Chamber Orchestra. They released their debut album, Invisible Stars, in 2015 with Signum Records.
The Choral Scholars newest album features the premieres of seven brand new pieces, as well as new arrangements of a few favourites. The album pays tribute to the beauty of Ireland's twilight hours, taking inspiration from Galileo Galilei, with lyrics featuring the poetry of James Joyce, classic Irish folk songs, and odes to the cosmos. The Choral Scholars soaring and expansive harmonies shine in Perpetual Twilight, accompanied by atmospheric and inventive instrumentation.
The Choral Scholars' music is available streaming on iTunes and Spotify and on their website.
