Singer Chris Brown and two others have been taken into custody in Paris on suspicion of rape, police have confirmed.

Brown's arrest occurred following a 24-year-old woman's statement that she was raped by the singer on January 15. She alleges that after she met Brown at a nightclub, he brought her back to his hotel room, where she was assaulted by him and two others.

The singer previously was sentenced to community service and domestic violence counseling after he assaulted Rihanna in February 2009.
