Chvrches' forthcoming record Screen Violence arrives on August 27th via Glassnote.
Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches have announced their fourth studio album, Screen Violence, alongside a collaboration with the Cure's Robert Smith titled 'How Not To Drown'.
Chvrches is composed of Martin Doherty, Lauren Mayberry, and Iain Cook - the trio's previous studio album Love Is Dead arrived in 2018.
'How Not to Drown' marks Chvrches’ second single of the year, following April’s 'He Said She Said.' In 2019, the band released 'Death Stranding', its addition to the Hideo Kojima game of the same name.
Recorded mostly remotely between LA and Glasgow, Screen Violence was originally conceived as a name for the band, before being revived for the title of their new record.
“I think for me it was helpful to go into the process with the idea that I could write something escapist almost,” Lauren Mayberry says of the album. “That felt freeing initially, to have concepts and stories to weave your own feelings and experiences through but in the end, all the lyrics were definitely still personal.”

While Martin Doherty adds, “To me, the screen aspect was a bit more literal. When we were making the record, it was like half of our lives were lived through screens. What began as a concept was now a lifeline.”
