The Northern Ireland Music Prize Winner's fourth album, Pls Stay, bb, will be released on June 19.
Ciaran Lavery has shared a brand-new single titled 'Count To Ten', along with a fun, 90's VHS-style music video. The new music is accompanied by the announcement of his upcoming album Pls Stay, bb, to be released on June 19.
'Count To Ten' is steeped in reflection as Lavery analyses the bad decisions he's made in the past, frustrated with both his actions and his own frustration.
"The song talks about responsibility on many levels, though mostly my own - my negligence to take responsibility for myself and my decision-making, but also the steps that I took to dig within myself, something that I’d neglected to do for the whole of my life up to this point. There is anger in this, frustration directed toward myself for poor decision-making and equal amounts of frustration for whipping myself for any decisions that I did make," he explains.
Beneath the anger it's also a celebration of wearing the scars openly, accompanied by incredibly fun and catchy melodies. He frees himself from expectations in the video, even freestyle dancing in pyjamas.

The track lays the foundation for Pls Stay, bb, which is rooted in catharsis. Thom Yorke’s The Eraser, Mitski’s Be The Cowboy and Beastie Boys Ill Communication served as stylistic backdrops for the whole recording process.
"It’s the Joy Division trick of making people dance while you punch them in the gut with the true message - which I love."
