Clairo's new in-studio EP finds the singer-songwriter revisiting material from her popular 2021 album, Sling, and adds some live Electric Lady Studios charm.
Clairo - a.k.a. Claire Cottrill - shared an intimate five-track EP Live At Electric Lady on Friday, a cozy EP which was released on Spotify.
Clairo's new in-studio EP finds the singer-songwriter revisiting material from her exceptional sophomore album Sling, released in 2021 to rave reviews. In Sling, the reluctant Gen Z ambassador embraced classic touchstones of 1970s folk, and the album represented some of her most nuanced work.
The newest five-track performance from Clairo features some beautiful additional instrumentals to Clairo's stripped-back pop/R&B originals. Clairo admitted on twitter in an EP announcement that the track list featured “all her favorites,” including her hit 'Bags' and Sling highlights 'Amoeba', 'Blouse', 'Zinnias' and 'Partridge'.

As the EP title suggests, the new songs were recorded at the legendary New York studio, where part of Sling was recorded. The studio has boasted top trending talents Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, as well as older music icons including Stevie Wonder, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix.
Clairo also released videos for each song recorded at Electric Lady Studios, with each featuring the singer at the booth backed with her band. The video for 'Amoeba' below marks the first time the track has been performed live on camera.
The additional instrumentation in each song demands more attention from listeners, as each cover takes Clairo's original song and builds on it with swelling vocals, louder percussion and phenomenal guitar and piano solos.
A particular highlight of the new cover songs is the addition of saxophones from talented players Steve Brickman and Hailey Niswanger, who only enrich each song with more complex backing music and set set a very high bar for live recordings.
This short collection undoubtedly showcases her generational talent, and may even be some of Clairo's finest work yet.
