Multi-instrumentalist and critically acclaimed performer, SON is one of Ireland's most celebrated emerging talents.
Folk artist SON (real name Susan O'Neill) has released stunning original single 'Almost' ahead of her upcoming solo album release in the new year.
Fresh from releasing a hauntingly beautiful cover of the Rolling Stones hit 'Gimme Shelter' in September, SON shines in her brand new track, showcasing raspy vocals and a memorable chorus.
The artist also appeared on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions' Y&E Series back in September.
She released her debut album, the acclaimed Found Myself Lost in 2017, and has collaborated extensively with the likes of Mick Flannery and Sharon Shannon.
Her voice soars as SON questions: “Can I trust you? If I trust you, how bad does it go?” in the song.

The mood is wanting, sharply pointing to the longing we must all feel in these isolated times. The caution before the leap into a new relationship is explored and over too quickly, leaving us an unanswered question, but with an inkling of hope.
“I recorded 'Almost' in Hotel Doolin during the lockdown while there on an artist residency," O'Neill says.
"Mick Flannery tweaked a few words with me and put piano to the song and we sent it to Zac Barter in Australia. Making sounds in this new way has been a cool process. Hope you enjoy the track.”
SON has also released a self-produced and directed video for the song to accompany the song.
The musician has kept herself busy by collaborating on a duet project with multi-platinum, award-winning artist, Mick Flannery.
The pair released a duet, 'Baby Talk' earlier in 2020 to rave reviews - taking home 'Best Original Song' at the RTE Folk Radio awards.
A full-length duet album will be released in Spring 2021, with the pair performing at Other Voices before fellow Irish artist Hozier.

The event takes place from December 14 until December 20, 2020 in Doolin.
