BBC's prestigious Sound Of... longlist for 2024 has been revealed – with Irish star CMAT included alongside the likes of Peggy Gou, The Last Dinner Party, Ayra Starr, Caity Baser, Elmiene, Kenya Grace, Olivia Dean, Sekou and Tyla.
Previous winners of Sound Of... – now in its 22nd year – include Sigrid, Sam Smith, Adele, FLO, HAIM, PinkPantheress, Michael Kiwanuka, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, MIKA, Celeste, Jack Garratt, and Years & Years. According to the BBC, the annual poll "tips music's most exciting new stars."
This year's poll was voted for by over 140 music industry experts. To qualify, an artist couldn't have previously had a No.1 or No.2 album on the UK charts, or more than two top 10 singles by October 12, 2023. In addition, the artist couldn't have featured on a TV talent show within the last three years.
The winner, and the top five, will be revealed in early 2024 on BBC Radio 1.
BBC Radio 1 are also hosting a special gig featuring performances from the longlisted artists on Monday, January 8.

The news follows a busy string of Irish shows for CMAT, including four nights at 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin – dubbed 'The CMAT Panto'. Read our live report of the Wednesday night gig here.
Her last performance of 2023 took place last night, in St James' Church in Dingle as part of Other Voices. Earlier this year, CMAT's also made high profile appearances on The Graham Norton Show and Later.. with Jools Holland.
Back in October, she released her lauded, second album, Crazymad, For Me – which landed on the Irish charts at No.1, and scored a nine-star review in Hot Press.
"...the best prediction is to set the controls for the heart of the sun, because this is a goddamn boss record," Will Russell wrote in his album review, going on to describe the record as "essential listening."
