A new Ticketmaster poll reveals the country's favourite live events of 2017, and the most hotly-anticipated shows for next year.
Coldplay’s sold-out show at Croke Park last summer was Ireland’s Ticket of the Year, according to a poll carried out by Ticketmaster.
The same Coldplay show was also voted the best show of the last 20 years by Ticketmaster customers.
Ticketmaster polled fans to discover the most popular live events in Ireland in 2017.
Coldplay’s “A Headful of Dreams” concert at Croke Park came out on top, beating off stiff competition from Electric Picnic in Stradbally and Guns N’ Roses at Slane Castle who took third spot.
The Croke Park stopover on the tour – which saw the British band play 114 shows in 76 cities and 31 countries – was also voted the most popular live event in Ireland in the past 20 years. Fans were asked to nominate their favourite show to celebrate Ticketmaster’s 20th anniversary in Ireland.
Dublin again proved to be the most popular city for great events in 2017, with eight shows featuring in the Top Ten followed by Belfast.

Some of the world’s biggest rock and pop acts dominate the Top Ten most popular acts, with U2, Ed Sheeran and both Robbie Williams and Take That making the list.
Two festivals, Electric Picnic and Longitude, also feature in the Top Ten, and although the list is dominated by music acts, Miss Saigon at Bord Gais Energy Theatre also features in Ireland’s Ticket of the Year rundown.
Looking at the global results across Ticketmaster markets, Coldplay again took top spot in the Ticket of the Year list. Their immense technicolour “Head Full of Dreams” tour has been witnessed by a staggering 5,389,586 million fans since it kicked off, produced by Live Nation, and become the third highest grossing global tour of all time.Ed Sheeran takes second place - his tour saw Ticketmaster Europe’s busiest day, selling over 1m tickets.
Looking ahead to next year, singer songwriter Ed Sheeran has been named as the most anticipated event for 2018. Ed’s Irish leg of the ‘÷’ world tour has got pulses racing already as fans count down to what promises to be a series of unforgettable concerts. Other shows fans said in the poll they would most like to see for 2018 in Ireland, include P!NK, Coldplay and U2.
