The band aren't touring their new album until they figure out how to make tours carbon neutral, but they stopped into Washington DC to give us this tiny concert
Fresh off a Prince tribute performance in LA in January, Coldplay covered The Purple One’s ‘1999’ during their NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
The desk was crowded as the band joined forces with the For Love Choir for the performance, some of whom lent their vocals to Coldplay’s 2019 album Everyday Life. Referencing the choir’s contributions to the album, frontman Chris Martin noted during the set that, "In a very real way, they've Photoshopped our songs to be much better than they actually are”.
In addition to ‘1999’, the band also played Everyday Life tracks ‘Champion Of The World’, ‘Cry Cry Cry’ and ‘Broken’ in addition to their 2008 hit ‘Viva La Vida’.
