A slow week for new entries sees the Benny Blanco, Halsey & Khalid collaboration reach its peak position on its seventh week in the charts.
After consecutive weeks spent occupying the top of the Irish singles chart, George Ezra's 'Shotgun' has seen itself drop two places, leaving room for 'Eastside' to take its place having steadily risen by one spot for the last two weeks. Coming courtesy of award-winning and Grammy-nominated American record producer Benny Blanco, the song features singers Khalid and Halsey. Undertaking the characters of two people in a relationship, each of them reminisce about how their bond came to be and their memories of it. It's a big success in the producer's fledgling solo career, as this is his first release after having previously written and produced for the likes of Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber.
In keeping with her top position on the albums chart with Sweetener, Ariana Grande is a common fixture here, with both 'God Is A Woman' and 'Breathin' maintaining spots in the top ten at No.7 and No.10 respectively, although the track 'Sweetener' has seen a sizable drop after being a new entry last week, now finding itself in No.31 after an initial placing of No.15.
Calvin Harris & Sam Smith's 'Promises' has been a notable mover in the opposite direction, climbing five places to sit just behind 'Eastside' in second, having debuted only last week in seventh.
New entries to the chart are scarce this week, with only a single song appearing for the first time. This being 'Idol' by BTS, which appears at No.33, though the song from the South Korean boy band has made headlines for other reasons this week. Released with their album Face Yourself, the music video for 'Idol' has taken the internet by storm and become the fastest of the year to surpass 100 million views on YouTube, and also annexed the record previously held by Taylor Swift's 'Look What You Made Me Do' for most watches in a 24-hour period.
