Come On In
While there is a diverse pot pourri of light and shade, the sun is shining for most of the time
No, it’s not Christmas yet. Even though that will be upon us quicker than you can say “overdraft”. Little Drummer Boy is the nomme de plume for Aidan Fitzsimon, who has been writing, producing and releasing original music since 1999 and contributing to some of the most illustrious electronic compilations around including the highly regarded Dope On Plastic series.
Come On In is a sun-kissed collection of twelve original compositions involving nine musicians. The mood flits between deeply chilled moodiness (‘Danse S’il Vous Plait’) to light dancefloor workouts (‘I Love You’) to shimmering neo-funk (‘Disco Sucks’). While there is a diverse pot pourri of light and shade, the sun is shining for most of the time. Una Gibney contributes vocals to the extremely poppy Saint Etiennesque ‘Everything You Needed’, a song made for sand, sun and shades. The string arrangements are perfectly pitched, never overdramatic or pompous.
Both ‘I Love You’ and ‘Disco Sucks’ will be featured in two upcoming motion pictures, no doubt raising the LDB profile by a few more notches. For now, Come On In is an inviting starting point.
