This fortnight, star of WonderWomen Katherine Lynch brings The Hack Of Ya around the country.
Katherine Lynch elbowed her way to fame on the RTÉ show WonderWomen, which saw her adopt various Irish personas – the charming Sheila Sheikh from Tallaght, who “boil-washed her knickers in the kettle” in the hope of winning over Cristiano Ronaldo, Leitrim’s Liz Hurley and of course, Singin’ Bernie Walsh. Catch The Hack Of Ya in Clare’s Glór Theatre (November 19); The Opera House, Wexford (25); and The Forum, Waterford (26).
Also making his way around the country this fortnight is David McSavage. The drier-than-dry comedian, who once made a living crushing the confidence of perfect strangers in Temple Bar (through the medium of song, which kind of makes it okay), went on to star in his own satirical sketch show, The Savage Eye. He’ll perform in Ramor Theatre, Cavor (November 19); Bardic Theatre, Tyrone (24); and Spirit Store, Dundalk (25).
Ireland-bound for a one-off performance is Bristol comic Stephen Merchant (left). Ricky Gervais’ partner-in crime brings Hello Ladies to Vicar St. (22), while fellow Brit Jimmy Carr – yes, we know he has Limerick roots too – heads wesht to TF Royal Theatre, Mayo (26), and then on to White’s Hotel, Wexford (27). Michael McIntyre meanwhile has added two more Dublin dates to his current mammoth tour, due to demand. He’ll now perform on November 18 and 19 in the O2, as well as the two dates (16, 17) already scheduled.
Down south, Limerick duo D’Unbelievables do their thing for two consecutive nights in Cork’s Opera House (25 & 26), while in Dublin, Mario Rosenstock continues his run of Gift Grub Live 2 in the Olympia (17 – 26). Deirdre O’Kane is in the Siamsa Tíre, Kerry (18); Source Arts Centre, Thurles; (19) and Draoícht, Blanchardstown (20), while the stars of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? (with special guest Phill Jupitus) take to the Whelan’s, Dublin stage for a one-off
show (19).
