Compilation of Joe Strummer’s Unreleased Songs to be Released Later this Year
Strummer is best known for being the co-founder and lead vocalist of The Clash, a punk rock band formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk.
Joe Strummer 001 is the first compilation to span the music icon’s career outside of The Clash. It will feature songs and demos recorded both before and after Strummer’s time with the legendary band.
The album was overseen by Strummer’s widow, Lucinda Tait, and Grammy-winning music producer Peter J. Moore.
This new compilation will feature 32 tracks, including 12 previously unreleased songs, as well as his recordings with the 101ers and The Mescaleros and some solo material.
Some of the previously unreleased songs include: a demo of ‘Before We Go Forward,’ recorded with Clash bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Pete Howard, a track titled ‘US North Basement Demo’ recorded in 1986 and featuring Strummer and Jones on vocals and ‘London Is Burning,’ one of the last songs Stummer ever recorded.
The compilation record is set for release on September 29th of this year.
The album is available to pre-order now.
