Mental health charity Aware have announced a special fundraising concert in the Olympia Theatre on April 6. ‘A Night for Aware’ will see a host of Irish musicians take to the stage in order to raise awareness of mental health issues in Ireland and collect much needed funds.
On the set-list are Aslan frontman Christy Dignam, ‘80s rockers In Tua Nua and singer-songwriter Mundy. Also set to perform are The Riptide Movement, The Pale, Cry Monster Cry, Barq, Jem Mitchell, Trouble Pilgrims and The Skatuesques.
The concert, supported by charity partner Cadbury’s, is the first concert held for Aware, which advocates on behalf of people with depression, bipolar disorder and similar related conditions. Additionally, Aware provides education and information for those suffering from mental health difficulties and their families.
Head of Fundraising and Business Development with Aware, Gerry O’Brien, commented on the announcement saying, "with one in ten experiencing depression in Ireland, we all know someone who has been impacted – whether directly ourselves, a family member, a friend or a colleague."
"Events like this raise vital funds that allow us to provide our support and education services completely free of charge, services that make a real difference in people’s lives."

"We are very grateful to Cadbury, the concert organisers and the artists who are generously donating their time and talents to support Aware and significantly, bring awareness to the important topic of mental health.”
Co-organiser Paul Byrne commented, “this is the fourth ‘A Night For….’ concert I have helped organise and they just get better each year. We bring together bands from the '80s, '90s, '00s and present so there’s something to suit everybody’s musical taste. It gives the audience a great snapshot of the Irish music scene past and present. A night not to be missed for music lovers in aid of a great cause.”
Tickets are on sale now at €25 from the box office at The Olympia Theatre (0818 719330), at www.ticketmaster.ie and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide. Phone and internet bookings are subject to a 12.5% service charge.
