A magical show in Ireland’s capital city peaked when the former Czars singer and the Villagers mainman duetted on the beautiful ‘Glacier’. John Walshe reports.
John Grant (pictured) delivered one of the gigs of the summer at Iveagh Gardens, in Dublin, last night.
Backed by a seven-piece band, including three incredible backing singers, Grant drew from his three solo albums – and even his previous life as vocalist with Dllas alternative rock outfit, The Czars – for a stunning set that encompassed 70s-esque piano balladry, glitchy electronica, full-on disco and arms-in-the-air anthems.
Grant was joined by Villagers’ Conor O’Brien for a gorgeous duet on ‘Glacier’, the Dubliner’s falsetto perfectly complementing Grant’s bruised baritone. In the lovely setting of Iveagh Gardens, this was a truly magical experience.
