Little Green Cars, Mick Flannery, The Blindboy Boatclub and Fair Plé have been announced as headline acts for Live at St. Luke’s as part of the Cork Midsummer Festival 2018.
The events will take place over 4 dates in June with support coming from Bleeding Heart Pigeons, Cormac Lally and Hanora George.
The Cork Midsummer Festival is an annual festival which showcases local and national artists across various arts. Live at St. Luke’s will adhere to this trend with their programme of music, poetry and discussion.
Little Green Cars will be first headline act to perform while Cork singer-songwriter Mick Flannery will be closing the series of events.
Fair Plé will also be showcasing talent at the festival. Fair Plé is an initiative that was set up to address the gender imbalance in Irish traditional and folk music. They will use the festival to provide a platform for some of Ireland’s most exciting folk, traditional and contemporary artists with The Whileaways, Kate Ellis and Anna Mieke amongst others set to perform.
Blindboy Boatclub, who is one half of comedy duo The Rubberbandits, will also be bringing his popular podcast to life. He uses his wit and intelligence to discuss political and social issues in his weekly podcast which currently has over 150,000 listeners worldwide.
Live at St. Lukes is an intimate music venue in Summerhill, Cork in a building that was previously a church. Seats are made up of church pews which adds to the atmosphere.
