Boa Morte is back with a new album and video. They're also about to embark on a set of Ireland shows.
This past Friday, Cork's Boa Morte released their third record in two decades, Before There Was Air. The band's brand of slow-burning, alternative with elements of ambient is still intact. The album was recorded last year at Herbert Place Studios, with James Darkin behind the boards. In order to fully capture the subtleties of the band’s dynamic, Darkin set them up in the same room with the mics opened wide. The basic tracks were then layered with analogue synths, drones, piano, wind, strings and effects. This distinctive compositional and textural mix prompted both London’s Gare Du Nord Records and Tremolo Publishing to sign the band this year.
Now, Hot Press is happy to share the band's newest video for their track 'Deep Is/Deeper.' Hypnotic arpeggios and soft chord strums rock at a snail's pace over a careful drum groove. It's a meditative tune. In other words, classic Boa Morte. The video features calming overhead shots of a city, a forest, and the band's equipment.

The critically acclaimed slow rockers are taking their sleepy tunes on the road, as they prepare to embark on a set of Ireland shows. They'll be playing in Cork on October 19th and Dublin on the 24th at Bar Bello. In the meantime, take a listen to Before There Was Air.
