It is with regret that we report the passing of Joesph Hill, frontman of influential reggae group Culture, who were due to play The Village in Dublin tomorrow.
Joseph suddenly became ill and passed away in Berlin Germany on the morning of Saturday August 19 while the group were in the middle of a European tour.
Hill, born January 22 1949, enjoyed a lengthy career in reggae music which began in the mid-seventies. His influence was acknowleged recently with an induction into the Jamaican Reggae Walk of Fame, and a 2005 Independence Award presented by the Prime Minister of Jamaica.
Despite the loss, the group will finish their current European tour and honour all other commitments with Joseph's son Kenyatta standing in on lead vocals as a celebration of his father's music.
It is with this line-up that Culture will still play The Village tomorrow, and celebrate the influence of Joesph Hill.
