Five years after their last gig on Irish grounds, the Aussie electro band are returning to The Button Factory.
Cut Copy fans will be delighted to see them take to the stage in Dublin on the 18th of July for their long-awaited come back. During their nearly 15 year career, the new wave band has gained worldwide recognition and their music has evolved greatly. Their latest release Haiku From Zero particularly stands out from their usual style, which should make for an interesting live performance.
Back in 2004, their first album Bright Like Neon Love was a mixture of both electro pop and indie rock influences. Four years later, the release of In Ghost Colours was an international success. So was 2011’s Zonoscope which won two ARIA awards and was nominated for a Grammy. The release of Free Your Mind in 2013 gave prominence to three singles, especially the eponymous one which raked up over one and a half million views on YouTube.
Their fifth album Haiku From Zero was released in 2017, followed by Haiku From Zero Remixes LP last year. While these two records did not gather as much attention as the previous ones, they still garnered countless favourable reviews. Cut Copy has drifted away from the acid house aspects of their previous record to lean in favour of Afro beat textures, dubby rhythm sections, and synth sounds.
