Building up to be what will no doubt be a groundbreaking album from the Dublin-based electronic producer, Daithi has released a new second double A-side, featuring some of the very best homegrown talent. Taking inspiration from the idea of how people deal with loss, and the different ways that they recover from it, these deeply personal new singles ‘Lavender’ and ‘Orange’ feature the vocal talents of David Tapley of Tandem Felix and Sinéad White respectively.
‘Lavender’ sees the words of Tapley stir whirling emotions of loss as he addresses an old friend. "I wanted to talk about friends, losing them and being lost by them. Each lyric is written such that it can be interpreted from at least two perspectives from the three: the subject, the friend and the former-friend. With the encouragement of Daithi, I recorded an improvised reading/singing from a book I was reading, picking the most vitriolic passages to repeat and to play with."
‘Orange’ is a song about the shattering effect of a relationship breakdown. It's about the aftermath, when the dust has settled and there's nothing more to say. All you're left with is the debris of a love gone. It's about looking at a relationship for what it was, warts and all, acknowledging the good and bad times but ultimately moving on.
The song came about when Daithi and Sinéad found themselves in similar personal situations when they started writing. Daithi says "I couldn’t believe the striking similarities we were both feeling, with similar instances when the pangs of hurt would suddenly appear. Learning to deal with that is one of the hardest parts of recovering from loss."
The double A-side also features an instrumental of ‘Lavender’ and a remix of ‘Orange’ by Wicklow-based musician EHCO.

Daithi continues to trace a more intimate collision in his latest work. His previous releases ‘Take the Wheel’ featuring Paul Noonan of Bell X1, and ‘In My Darkest Moments’ with The Sei, portray an intimate new side to the two-time Choice Music Prize nominee’s sound, marking this as his most ambitious and personal adventure to date.
Daithi takes to the road over the next few months with a brand new live show that is not to be missed. See him perform at the Central Arts, Waterford (20th October); Westport Arts Festival - The Westival Club @ The Mill Times, with Elaine Mai (26th October); Metropolis Afterparty at the Button Factory, Dublin (27th October); Cyprus Avenue, Cork (9th November); Connolly’s of Leap, West Cork (10th November), and the Roisin Dubh, Galway (20th December).
