The critically-acclaimed electronic artist tackles issues of gentrification, home and community in his new video. Watch below.
Irish electronic artist Daithí has dropped a powerful music video for his track 'Walking Home Alone', following the release of his third album I’m Here Now earlier this month.
The Clare native has once again teamed up with writer-director Ayla Amano for the visual project. Produced in New Zealand, the video shows a group of people walking in the sunset, interspersed with shots of a stunning dance performance.
Previously, Amano has directed the music video for 'Familial', the lead track of Daithí's new album, which explores family relations in island communities. The ambitious project was shortlisted for three Kinsale Shark Music Video Awards - for Best Music Video, Best Direction and Best New Director.
The latest music video tackles the burgeoning issue of gentrification.
"The concept for the video for 'Walking Home Alone' is adapted from a dance theatre show created by Villa Junior Lemanu, who also stars in the video," Amano explained. "Atali’i o le Crezent (Sons of the Crezent) is an elegy to his home and community in South Auckland, as he faces its inevitable loss to gentrification."

White still bedded in electronica, Daithí’s sound has been fittingly described as having "moved beyond a fusion of Ireland’s past and a contemporary present to a world of rich texture, veering from deep house music to ambient arrangements."
The critically-acclaimed electronic artist is currently on his I’m Here Now tour of Ireland, the UK and Europe.
"There's been such a great reaction to the record, it's been so nice," he enthused. "My favourite thing is the way each person has a favourite section of the album because it speaks to them personally - It's lovely hearing how people have been connecting with the record, I can't wait to perform it in person."
