As a part of MusicTown 2019, folk singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey will be performing a special show at Vicar Street, featuring a number of exciting guests.
Damien Dempsey's recent duet album Union, saw the accomplished songwriter collaborating with key figures in the world of Irish music including Sinéad O'Connor, Imelda May and Moya Brennan. First rising to prominence with his 2000 album They Don't Teach This Shit In School, Dempsey has found success with his passionate and insightful songs, tackling social concerns and taking on the powerful.
In keeping with the collaborative spirit of Union, Damien Dempsey's upcoming gig at Vicar Street will include special guests Imelda May, Lisa O'Neill, Paul Alwright, Pauline Scanlon and Seamus Begley. All featured on his recent album, Dempsey and guests will be performing tracks from Union as well as classic favourites. Dempsey said of working on Union: "When we collaborate with music we always learn something from each other and take a little bit of each other’s spirit and magic away with us. You can always come up with something that you wouldn't have if alone, souls and minds mingle, kindred spirits connect and dance, creativity crackles, and the results can be wonderful."
